A blanket, a duvet or maybe a sleeping bag – what will make the best cover for your baby?

Soft and warm cover will ensure a sound sleep for your baby. What to choose for your baby not to get too cold or to warm? There are several options – we can choose a blanket, a duvet or a sleeping bag. Here is our advice what to have in mind when choosing.

To be honest, there is no one simple answer to the question which of the mentioned covers will be the best. It depends on many factors, and most importantly on the baby itself. Some babies like to be tightly wrapped, other like it better when they have space and they do not like to sleep in sleeping bags. It is best to try all the options to decide which solutions work best for your baby. What is also important when choosing a cover, is to note the temperature of the room where your baby sleeps.

Safe sleeping bag

A sleeping bag is an irreplaceable element during baby's first weeks. It ensures warmth and safety – precisely what babies like best. It is recommended to choose a sleeping bag made of natural materials such as cotton with hypoallergenic filling. It is very comfortable for holding your baby. It will also prove useful during travel and when the days turn colder. Sleeping bag will be functional until the baby learns how to turn from side to side. Later on, the sleeping bag will be ideal as a duvet for baby bed or stroller.

A small and light blanket

A baby's blanket should not be too thick nor too big. The size 65x75 cm should be enough. It should be soft and nice to the touch. Just like a sleeping bag, it is best when it is made of high-quality material such as cotton and soft fleece. A small baby blanket is a great idea for a universal cover that can be used in bed, in stroller or in a car seat. It is perfect during the colder seasons when the temperature is too low. You need to pay attention, though, for the baby covered with the blanket not to kick it off and to get cold.

A soft duvet

When choosing a duvet, just like in the case of sleeping bag and blanket, make sure you check what is it made of. Again, the best option is cotton fabric, with the inner side made of hypoallergenic filling that ensures warmth and breathability. The duvet should also be small, reaching the baby's armpits, for the baby not to cover its head with it. The duvet's corners can also be put under the mattress. As a result, your baby will not kick it off during sleep.

In fact, it is best to have all three types of covers at hand, as sooner or later each of them will turn out to be useful. These products you will find in a variety of patterns and colours on our website.
